Feb. 26, 2014 ~ Mar. 4, 2014 : Pizza, Fresh Pasta with Tomato Sauce, Belgian Waffles, Quiche Lorraine

My Task : Grab ingredients, knead, cover dough, form dough into a ball, cover with sauce and sprinkle cheese evenly. Clean up – Dish washer (Get dish soap, Wash and rinse dishes)





8 mL instant Dry Active Yeast

125 mL Warm Water

250 mL Flour

15 mL Olive Oil

2 mL Salt

5 mL White Sugar

250 mL Cheese

Tomato Sauce

Any other toppings


1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 mins.

2. In a large bowl, ombine flour, olive oil, salt and the yeast mixture: Stir well to combine. Turn onto a lightly floured counter and knead until a stiff dough has formed. Cover and let rise for 20 min. Meawhile, preheat oven to 350 F.

3. Turn dough out onto a well floured surface. Form dough into a round shape and roll out into a pizza crust shape. Cover with your favorite sauce and toppings and bake in preaheated oven until golden brown, about 20 mins.


My Opinion of the Lab:

The overall lab was pretty great. It tasted like bought pizza. It would’ve been better if we let it cook a little more, but we didn’t have much time, but it still tasted really good.

At home, I would use this recipe for a lunch or dinner for my family and friends.

I would eat it for lunch or dinner.

I would serve it to my family, friends and myself.

How could you alter the recipe to make it healthier?

I could use half whole wheat flour and half all-purpose flour, and low-fat cheese.

How could you alter the recipe to make it cheaper?

I could use less cheese and not put on other toppings.
